Amanda Lo
Amanda Lo is a multi-genre violinist residing in New York City. She specializes in classical and contemporary music, although she enjoys experimenting with jazz, rock and electronica. Amanda received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from New York University under the direction of Stephanie Chase, having previously studied with Bira and Joseph Rabushka in Westchester County. Amanda has performed in master classes and collaborated with artists across a variety of genres such as: Harry Connick Jr., Claude Frank, Pamela Frank, The Irish Tenors, Gilbert Kalish, Ani Kavafian, Cho-Liang Lin, Anne-Marie McDermott, Mr. North, Daniel Phillips, Fred Sherry and Bill Whelan.
At the age of 11, Amanda traveled to China to appear at the Beijing Music school and to perform in an exchange concert at the Shaanxi Little Swan Chorus and Art Troupe. After three years of holding the Frank Wigglesworth chair as Assistant Concertmaster of the New York Youth Symphony, Amanda was appointed Concertmaster awarded the Rosengarten String Scholarship in 2007. In May of 2008, Amanda gave her debut recital at the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts’ Music Room. In April of 2010, Amanda became the youngest person to win the New York University String Concerto Competition. She has appeared as a soloist with a number of orchestras including The Chelsea Symphony, New York University Symphony Orchestra, SymphoNYC and The Westchester Philharmonic. She is currently a regular member of The Chelsea Symphony, Ensemble 212, mise-en Ensemble, The New York Chamber Virtuosi, New York Concerti Sinfonietta, SymphoNYC and is the Concertmaster of Aytia|Matia Media Arts Collective and The Manhattan Camerata, and has also performed with The Knights, The Mimesis Ensemble, The Nouveau Classical Project and Syzygy New Music Collective.
